Cycle the Month this August
Cycle the Month is a virtual challenge for cyclists everywhere. Sign up and cycle 100 miles over August. You don’t have to be a pro cyclist. Cycle the Month is perfect for anyone who wants to get active this summer, push themselves, and help raise money to fund lifesaving prostate cancer research.
You could cycle to work, clock up your miles at the gym, or go on weekend rides to the pub. If you fancy a challenge, why not see if you can reach 200, or even 300 miles?
Take on Cycle the Month alone, or get your mates together and form a team. Share your progress using Strava or log your miles manually on your fundraising page to keep track.
Every mile you tick off and every pound you raise will help fund lifesaving research for the 1 in 8 men affected by prostate cancer in the UK.
Meet Tony.
Tony took on Cycle the Month in 2022 and rode 300 miles in support of his dad, Jimmy, who is living with prostate cancer.
Jimmy was diagnosed around six years ago, and after also seeing his mum overcome cancer, Tony wanted to do something to shine a spotlight on the disease.
“I signed up to Cycle the Month to raise money for an amazing charity supporting research into diagnosis and treatments for prostate cancer.
Cycling long distances was out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to support a cause that had become a big part of my life.”
Most men with early prostate cancer don’t have symptoms, so knowing your risk and doing something about it can be a lifesaver. But currently, there is no effective screening programme in the UK to check men regularly and accurately for prostate cancer.
By taking on Cycle the Month, you could help men get an earlier diagnosis. By raising awareness and funding research into better, more effective tests. So the men we love can live long and live well.
“We all have different motivations for challenging ourselves - experiences with dads, brothers, sons, uncles and friends - and the most important thing is doing it for them.”
